CFX Developer Update #1

Updated: Jul 18, 2021

Ladies and gentlemen,

We made it, CrossfireX developers finally communicated with us. What a long wait since the last time we heard about them talking about their baby!

Hello Everyone, I am Boo, the Executive Producer of CrossfireX. It has been some time since we were able to share with you the latest CrossfireX news. Our team has been hard at work to bring you the latest entry in the Crossfire franchise and we would like to thank you for your patience. Today I wanted to share with you some elements of the game we are really excited about.

Indeed, their last announce goes back to November, 19th 2020 with the sad information that they have delayed the game, making us unable to put on our hands on the game, in despite of months wishing for some news all while reaching the end of the year. Even if CrossfireX was initially planned to drop out of 2020, it is worth to notice that the major part of the community absolutely undertood their decision to postpone the release and present a finished product rather than taking too much risks and not ensure a smooth launch.

More than simply a news, it is the first time we have an update concerning what interests us the most here : The multiplayer. To add a cherish on the cake, Smilegate also reassure us with claiming that the game is still planned for 2021.

We unfortunaly did not have any specific informations related to the Classic part of the game, which is what that truely brings our attention and what we are planning to cover at Fragdown. Nonetheless, we do really appreciate the gesture and it was something long awaited from anyone having their eyes on the title.

If we did not have specific news related to Classic, we still learnt that every existing maps received a glow up at the least very astonishing, let's be honest on that. It is an impressive work, well job devs.

As if it was not enough, Mr Sooro Boo, the Executive Producer for CrossfireX, decided to reveal not less than 2 new modes and 3 maps.

The first one is a 15 versus 15 gametype where two teams battle over five different control points. Each point capture opens up a supply crate with special items to aid the team in battle.

Map : Babylon

The second one is called Infection. In this 16-player mode, players must survive as long as they can against infected players.

Map : Invasion

The third map shown is Babylon Lab for the already existing mode called "Spectre".

We also have been informed that they have worked on a new in-game mechanic, the Tactical Growth system.

"In certain CFX modes, players will be able to choose player upgrades that last throughout that round only. Upgrades can focus on offense such as increased damage, defense such as equipping a tactical shield and recovery such as health regeneration. This allows players to react to the current round situation and adapt where necessary. Previously, there were two phases in a round where players had the option to select a tactical growth perk. We have strengthened this feature and expanded it to include a third phase. Here players can transform into a legendary mercenary – including one called the “Boogieman”."

He concludes with :

We will have more information regarding legendary mercenaries at a later date. Once again, we would like to thank you for your patience as we work towards CFX’s release in the near future this year. We are preparing many other things, so please stay tuned and look forward to them.

We do not know about you, but it is the kind of communication we have waited since the beginning and we could not be more happy to hear about them. It definitively signs a termination of what we experienced before and we are really hungry for more!
